It has been a busy couple of weeks!
Last weekend Alex Dimitriou, one of my teammates for HuairaSinchi competed in the Untamed Switzerland Orienteering Event in Zuri Oberland. We had a really great time running around in the snow, such a great time that we forgot to pick up some CPs and ended up running out and back for about 3 kilometres along the same road before finally deciding that we had enough after 5 hours on the trot.
The first part of the race went really well for us. We were bombing around the course, picking up lots of points and ready to tackle the second part of the two loops on the map. However, as we got mid way we started to debate a little too much about what to do and it became apparent that we were going to have to run long distances to gain little reward but by that time we had already gone too far to re strategise so we ended up wasting a lot of time.
Here is the course we took:
And the winners course:
It was a great day of training though and I dont think I would have dragged myself out for a 5 hour run if it werent for a fun event like it!
The cake afterwards was so yummy! Check out: http://www.sallyscakes.ch I dont know how Mark Dowsett stays so slim with cakes like those being produced at home!
Next up is January 29th The Crux!
I ran in my new Inov-8 Oroc 280s and they were amazing. I have never felt so confident in snow and ice before and I slipped less than Alex who is quite quick on his feet.
Here is a little video review with lots of birds in the background.
